Taste and Learn About Thai Rice Through Rice Tasting and Rice Pairing
The Rice Tasting activity, under the concept The Art of Rice Sensory, gives attendees the opportunity to compare the aroma, flavour, and texture of each rice variety, alongside the A Rice & Health Experience activity, which introduces the health benefits of each type of rice, ideal for those looking to choose rice that better suits the needs of each meal.
This is followed by Rice Pairing under the theme The Perfect Match, where Chef Moo Thikamporn Srikamhaeng and Chef Paisarn Cheewinsiriwat demonstrate how to develop Thai rice into dishes ranging from the Northeastern culinary wisdom of khao buea and reimagined chicken rice to a rice pudding dessert named "Khao Lam Mai Lam", reflecting how each rice variety offers different flavours when cooked in different ways.
Workshop on Processing Thai Rice into Creative Products
Attendees can also take part in hands-on workshops processing rice into a variety of products, such as sourdough bread made from Southern indigenous rice, khao kaep rice crackers made from three-coloured rice, fermenting rice into vinegar, miso, and soy sauce, as well as rice chocolate, natural yeast cultivation, and roasting herbal rice tea.
These activities are part of the 2026 Project to Promote and Develop the High-Quality Rice Market to Increase Farmers' Income, which aims to connect produce directly from farmers to consumers and elevate Thai rice into a higher-value agricultural product.
This event is of interest to consumers who enjoy seeking out food festivals and healthy food items, as well as restaurant operators and chefs looking for rare rice varieties to develop new dishes in their restaurants.
