Phuket Prepares to Host Global Wellness Summit 2026 from 10 to 13 November 2026

The Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine, together with the Phuket Wellness and Health Economy Promotion Association and local partner networks, is advancing preparations to host the global conference Global Wellness Summit 2026 (GWS 2026), which will take place from 10 to 13 November 2026 in Phuket Province. This initiative aims to develop Thailand's wellness business ecosystem in line with the national strategy, while distributing income thoroughly to small entrepreneurs, farmers and community enterprises. Relevant agencies have jointly upgraded Thai wellness products and services across three main dimensions: quality, standards and innovation, to build consumer confidence and connect local producers with international hospitality and service businesses.

Upgrading Phuket Wellness Products and Local Ingredients for the Global Market

Dr Pongsadhorn Pokpermdee, Director-General of the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine, stated that Phuket Province's selection as the host destination for the Global Wellness Summit 2026 represents a significant opportunity to showcase the potential of Thai wisdom and local wellness products to industry leaders from around the world. The Phuket Wellness and Health Economy Promotion Association has therefore worked with local entrepreneur networks to select high-potential goods and services for further development to cater to wellness travellers attending the event. The selection process focuses on combining the distinctive identity of local resources with production processes that meet international standards, adding long-term value to community products.

The local products selected for exhibition and business development at the summit are divided into three main categories that clearly reflect the identity of Phuket Province. Attendees will find innovative wellness products and handicrafts covering body care and lifestyle as follows:

• Herbal and spa products: Developing Thai herbs into health and beauty care products, such as skincare and beauty products extracted from abalone, as well as body scrubs processed from Phuket pineapple, the province's Geographical Indication (GI) fruit.
• Local food and ingredients: Selecting renowned agricultural ingredients from the area, such as Phuket pineapple and cashew nuts, alongside adapting traditional local recipes into healthy menu items that meet the needs of modern consumers.
• Handicrafts and community tourism: Presenting batik fabric crafts created by local artisans, while linking product sales through networks of community enterprises and wellness tourism operators in Phuket Province.

Launch of the Wellness Route and Innovation Village Business Exchange Zone

In addition to product development, government agencies and networks in Phuket Province have launched the Wellness Route to offer travellers experiences that restore both body and mind. The route is designed to allow visitors to closely experience the local way of life and wisdom through key pilot areas, namely the Baan Tha Chatchai Tourism Community and the Koh Lon Tourism Community. Connecting travel itineraries with community-level attractions encourages local participation and distributes economic benefits directly to grassroots communities.

Meanwhile, the Global Wellness Summit 2026 venue will also feature an Innovation Village zone to comprehensively showcase wellness concepts and innovations from Thai entrepreneurs. This area will serve as an important platform for Thai producers and service businesses to negotiate and exchange business opportunities with executives and leaders in the wellness industry arriving from around the world.
