Phuket to Host Global Wellness Summit 2026 at Angsana Laguna Phuket in November 2026

Phuket Province has announced its readiness to host the Global Wellness Summit 2026 (GWS 2026), an international conference on health and well-being under the theme Science, Art and Soul of Wellness. Mr Chotnarin Kerdsom, Governor of Phuket Province, unveiled plans to welcome leaders, experts and business professionals in the wellness industry from around the world. The event will be held from 10 to 13 November 2026 at Angsana Laguna Phuket, with the aim of sustainably driving Phuket and Thailand towards becoming a global wellness hub.

Three Areas of Readiness to Welcome Global Wellness Leaders

The Governor of Phuket Province stated that the province is ready to support the event across three main dimensions. The first is international-standard hospitality and safety, covering transport systems, preventive and curative medical standards, and service delivered with Thai hospitality. The second is being a wellness destination, offering medical facilities, spa businesses, healthy cuisine and prominent natural attractions.

The third dimension is the wellness economy, which aims to connect small entrepreneurs and local products into the wellness business value chain. Phuket's strength lies in combining nature, medical science, Thai wisdom, food and local culture, ranging from seaside relaxation and Thai massage to preventive healthcare and spa services.

Data from the Global Wellness Institute indicates that in 2024, Thailand recorded wellness tourism expenditure of US$14 billion, an increase of 36.4% from 2023, reflecting growth opportunities for Thailand's wellness business and high-value tourism. Hosting GWS 2026 therefore marks an important moment aligned with global wellness market trends and serves as an opportunity for Thailand's MICE industry to attract global leaders and business professionals to the area.

Distributing Income to Local Restaurants and Small Entrepreneurs

The Governor of Phuket Province emphasised that hosting GWS 2026 aims to deliver tangible benefits to the grassroots economy, rather than being limited to hotels or large wellness establishments. The event provides opportunities for restaurants, small entrepreneurs, farmers producing herbs and healthy ingredients, and community product makers to connect with the wellness market to create jobs and increase income for local residents.

In addition to the main conference, the province has arranged Phuket Wellness Routes through pre- and post-summit activities, allowing participants from around the world to experience the nature, food and culture of Phuket and surrounding areas. Planned activities include visiting the eco-friendly elephant conservation centre Phuket Elephant Sanctuary, a Market to Table activity to learn healthy cooking using fresh ingredients, cruising around Phang Nga Bay, and walking to explore the architecture and local way of life in Phuket Old Town.

The Governor of Phuket Province concluded that this initiative is an important step towards long-term outcomes, including raising wellness business standards and developing the capabilities of entrepreneurs and communities alongside preserving the environment and cultural identity, to sustainably drive Phuket and Thailand towards becoming a world-class Global Wellness Hub.
