PMCU Opens Siam Square for Thailand Marching Band Championship with 44 Teams Nationwide

The Property Management of Chulalongkorn University, or PMCU, opened the Siam Square area as the venue for the Thailand Marching Band Championship 2026 from 17 to 18 October 2026. Held for the second consecutive year, the event brought together 44 primary and secondary school student teams from 13 provinces across the country to compete in the city centre, giving young people an opportunity to showcase their musical talents to the public.

The event was organised in collaboration with the Marching Band Association of Thailand, with Kosin Suebprasitwong, President of the Association, and Kritsada Kongsawan, Vice President of the Association, attending the ceremony. Beyond competing for prizes, the stage provided an opportunity for students from various schools in Bangkok and other provinces to practise teamwork and gain real competition experience.

Competition Results and Reactions from the Winners

In the Concert Marching Arts Compact B Class category, Sarasas Witaed Bangbon School won first prize. Lukpear, a representative of the school band, said she felt very proud as it was the team's first time competing at Siam Square. Both the marching band and colour guard members dedicated themselves and worked together to achieve success. She also thanked PMCU for opening the space to give school students from many provinces a stage to demonstrate their abilities and develop their skills.

Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, said at the awards ceremony that the competition was an important experience helping young people learn and develop themselves regardless of the results. He congratulated all participating teams and invited them to return to compete on this stage again next year.

Siam Square and Its Role in Youth Activities

PMCU has continuously opened the Siam Square space for a wide range of activities, from Children's Day events where children can try new things and Labour Day events connecting university knowledge with the Thai workforce, to SIAM YOUTH SQUARE, which provides a platform for the younger generation to express their potential and exchange ideas. This reflects PMCU's approach to viewing Siam Square as more than a commercial and fashion hub, serving instead as a space where all groups of people can grow together.
