Tourism Department launches MuslimGo, an AI web app for Muslim travellers
The Department of Tourism has launched MuslimGo, an AI-powered web app that helps Muslim travellers plan trips and find halal food, accommodation and mosques across Thailand.
The Department of Tourism, Ministry of Tourism and Sports, launched a web application called MuslimGo on 22 September 2026, with Mr Weerapat Chinnaphan, Director of the Tourism Service Development Division, presiding over the ceremony. The platform uses AI technology to help plan trips specifically for Muslim travellers, covering the search for halal restaurants, accommodation and mosques across the country. Anyone interested can access the service via www.muslimgothailand.com immediately.
Key features of the MuslimGo platform
Mr Jaturon Phakdeewanich, Director-General of the Department of Tourism, explained that the platform was designed to reduce the difficulties Muslim travellers often face when travelling in Thailand, such as finding reliable halal restaurants or prayer spaces, by bringing all the information together in one place. The system also links prayer times with the AI-generated itinerary for each user, making it easier to plan trips that suit their needs.
- Search for and display the location of nearby halal restaurants, accommodation, mosques and tourist attractions
- An AI system creates personalised itineraries, combining dining, sightseeing and prayer times in a single trip
- Information is verified and carries reliable certification standards
- Available in four languages: Thai, English, Malay and Arabic
Why this market matters for Thai operators
According to the Global Muslim Travel Index 2025, around 196 million Muslim travellers made international trips, a figure expected to rise to 262 million by 2030. Thailand ranked 27th in the world and 5th among countries that are not members of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, reflecting Thailand's existing potential as a leading Muslim-friendly destination.
The Director-General of the Department of Tourism added that, besides helping travellers, MuslimGo also gives Thai operators an easier channel to reach the Muslim market and helps distribute tourists from major cities to secondary cities across the country. The same report also found that more than 80 percent of new-generation Muslim travellers rely mainly on AI tools and digital platforms to plan and decide on their trips, in line with the direction MuslimGo has set out.
