TISTR Hosts Innovation Exhibition to Elevate Kamphaeng Phet Economy
TISTR visited Kamphaeng Phet to host an exhibition showcasing seven agricultural and processing innovations, aiming to elevate the community economy and reduce production costs.
The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, together with the Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR), organised a field activity to drive the local economy through innovation on 11 October 2026. The grand event took place at the Dipangkorn Rasmijoti Auditorium, Kamphaeng Phet Rajabhat University, led by Prof. Dr. Yotchanan Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Ministry. This exhibition of goods and technology focused on solving agricultural issues and reducing production costs to create a stable income for the community.
Prof. Dr. Yotchanan emphasised the importance of applying scientific knowledge to adapt policies for concrete results in the actual area. Farmers today still face numerous challenges, including soaring production factor costs and limitations in market access. The event also featured the signing of two memorandums of understanding with the Liquor Distillery Organization for ethanol production and Kamphaeng Phet Rajabhat University. This network-level collaboration will help propel the tangible transfer of technology down to the grassroots economy.
Highlighting Outstanding Innovations to Elevate the Quality of Life
Asst. Prof. Dr. Weerachai Arjharn, Governor of TISTR, along with a team of researchers, presented seven outstanding practical innovation showcases. The first showcase was a tailor-made organic-chemical fertiliser designed specifically for crops like sugarcane and cassava, which helps restore the soil and saves up to 60 percent on crop maintenance budgets. In addition, there was technology for cultivating dwarf banana trees that helps reduce damage from fluctuating weather conditions, resulting in a consistent increase in income for farmers. At the same time, disease-free cassava seedlings from tissue culture were introduced, capable of nearly doubling yields.
Processing and Clean Energy Technology
Regarding food processing technology, a biomass stove was introduced that helps shorten cooking times and saves up to 37.43 percent on fuel costs. Simultaneously, a banana slicing machine was showcased that increases operational efficiency and reduces labour shortage problems by up to 60 percent. Furthermore, local liquor production technology from agricultural produce was exhibited to help elevate product prices and support regional tourism. The final highlight was a prototype anhydrous alcohol plant using cassava, which saves energy in the production process and aligns with sustainable development guidelines.
