S&P Marks 53rd Anniversary with Food Rescue Kitchen for Wat Sai Community
S&P marked its 53rd anniversary with SOS Thailand by distributing surplus food and bakery items to the Wat Sai community in Nonthaburi to help reduce food waste.
S&P Syndicate Public Company Limited, or the S&P brand, has partnered with Scholars of Sustenance Foundation Thailand, or SOS Thailand, to organise a community support activity called S&P Food Rescue Kitchen on 2 October 2026. The team visited the Wat Sai community and nearby areas in Bang Kruai District, Nonthaburi Province, to deliver good-quality surplus food and bakery items that had not been sold to local residents. The activity was held to mark the brand's official 53rd anniversary and to welcome the upcoming World Food Day on 16 October, reinforcing its commitment to social responsibility alongside its business operations.
Advancing Sustainability and Reducing Food Waste
S&P's management emphasised the company's operational policy focused on sustainable development, aiming to maintain a balance between economic, social and environmental considerations. Food waste has become a global crisis requiring urgent action, as one-third of all food produced is discarded as waste each year. As a major food producer, the brand recognises the importance of managing resources efficiently and has partnered with SOS Thailand to distribute surplus food for maximum benefit. In addition to helping ease the financial burden of community members' food needs, this approach also helps reduce the volume of waste sent to landfill, while bringing joy by presenting pound cakes to community representatives celebrating birthdays in October.
Six Years of Programme Success
This collaboration on surplus food management is not a new initiative, having continued for more than 6 years since 2020. Throughout this period, the S&P brand has collected bakery items that remain clean and safe from more than 205 points of sale, distributing them to underserved communities in 10 provinces across Thailand. To date, the programme has delivered 309,112 kilograms of surplus food, which has been converted into as many as 1,298,694 meals for people in need. In addition to its social benefits, the programme has also helped reduce greenhouse gas emissions by as much as 771,896 kilograms of carbon dioxide equivalent, equivalent to planting 12,707 trees.
