SACIT Joins MOLLY 20th Anniversary Exhibition Bangkok, Open Until 25 October 2026

The Thailand Institute for the Promotion of Thai Arts and Crafts (Public Organisation), or SACIT, has sent works by winners of the SACIT Craft Station competition to the MOLLY 20th Anniversary Exhibition Bangkok, bringing Thai craft wisdom together with contemporary culture. The exhibition is organised by POP MART Thailand together with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and the Property Management Office of Chulalongkorn University (PMCU). It runs from 24 September to 25 October 2026 at the Chulalongkorn University Centenary Park. The event celebrates 20 years of MOLLY under the theme The Little Galaxy: A Journey Through the Universe of Time.

Two Thai crafts in the world of MOLLY

SACIT is presenting works by winners from two editions of the competition. The first is Benjarong on porcelain by Mr Tawee Phansri, winner of SACIT Craft Station 2026. The collection presents the art of tableware alongside Thai eating culture and the use of vessels.

The other is inlay and lacquer work by Mr Chalermkiat Somdulyawat, winner of SACIT Craft Station 2025. The piece uses mother-of-pearl, eggshell, gold leaf and silver leaf to express MOLLY's personality in a contemporary style.

Asst Prof Dr Anucha Teerakanont, Director of SACIT, said that traditional wisdom does not stop at forms from the past but can be developed into contemporary works that reach younger generations. The institute will strengthen the skills and creativity of makers and connect them with brands and potential partners.

Looking back at 20 years of MOLLY

MOLLY is a character created by the artist Kenny Wong. At the exhibition, visitors will see original works, including sketches, paintings, figures and key pieces from each period, showing how this girl grew up in the worlds of art and art toys and became known internationally.

The exhibition also includes works by artists and craftspeople from many cultures, including painting, Sichuan embroidery, paper-cutting art, batik, silverware, ceramics and lacquerware, each interpreting MOLLY in their own way. Another highlight is the work of Yoon Panpat, a Thai artist who has worked with leading brands and projects around the world. This time, he reinterprets MOLLY in his own visual language.

Connecting art with the city and tourism

Staging the event in a green space in the heart of Bangkok brings art closer to communities and city life. Siriporn Plangjantuek, Head of Southeast Asia at POP MART, said that the project's success is measured not only by visitor numbers but also by the inspiration, opportunities and value created for people and the surrounding area.
