SACIT Craft Winners Reinterpret MOLLY at Bangkok Exhibition Until 25 October 2026

The Support Arts and Crafts International Centre of Thailand (Public Organization), or SACIT, has taken work by winners of its SACIT Craft Station competition to the MOLLY 20th Anniversary Exhibition Bangkok, where they reinterpret the character MOLLY. The exhibition is at Chulalongkorn University Centenary Park from 24 September to 25 October 2026. It is organised by POP MART Thailand together with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and the Chulalongkorn University Property Management Office (PMCU). It celebrates 20 years of MOLLY and opens Thai craftsmanship to a younger generation through pop culture.

Thai craftsmanship meets a globally known character

SACIT is using the exhibition as a stage for Thai creators to combine their craft skills with contemporary culture. Asst. Prof. Dr. Anucha Teerakanon, Director of SACIT, said that traditional wisdom does not stay fixed in the forms of the past, but can be developed into work that reaches consumers and younger audiences.

SACIT presents two sets of work at the exhibition. The first is Benjarong on porcelain by Mr Thawee Punsri, winner of SACIT Craft Station 2026, which tells the story of the art of Thai tableware alongside Thai dining culture and the use of vessels. The second is inlay and lacquerwork by Mr Chalermkiat Somdulyawat, winner of SACIT Craft Station 2025, who uses mother-of-pearl, eggshell, gold leaf and silver leaf to present MOLLY's personality.

What is on show

The exhibition takes the theme The Little Galaxy, a journey through the universe of time. It guides visitors through the development of MOLLY, created by Kenny Wong, through sketches, paintings, figures and key works from each period.

• Works by artists and craftspeople from many cultures who interpret MOLLY through painting, Sichuan embroidery, paper cutting, batik, silverware, ceramics and lacquerwork
• Works by Yoon Panphat, a Thai artist with an international reputation who has worked with leading brands around the world, and who here reinterprets MOLLY through a personal visual language and imagination

Siriporn Plengjanthuek, Head of Southeast Asia at POP MART, said the event is not only about bringing an international exhibition to Bangkok. It is about connecting the world of MOLLY with creativity, culture and people in Thailand. The success of the project is measured by the inspiration and opportunities it creates for people and the surrounding area, not just by visitor numbers.

Holding the event in a green space in the heart of Bangkok also introduces visitors to the surrounding creative district, shops, restaurants and hospitality businesses, which helps generate economic activity in the area. The exhibition also serves as a place to learn outside the classroom, letting university, school and college students see how the creative industry works in practice.
