AirAsia Adds High-Season International Flights: 46 Cities, 53 Routes from Don Mueang

Thai AirAsia and Thai AirAsia X have announced the return of international routes that were temporarily reduced, together with higher frequencies on several routes, to meet travel demand in the year-end high season in the fourth quarter, from October to December 2026. Direct flights from Don Mueang Airport will cover up to 46 cities on 53 routes across ASEAN and Asia.

Thansita Akkarittipirom, Commercial Director of AirAsia, said that in the third quarter the airline had to cut flights and temporarily suspend some routes to control costs amid higher fuel prices. Now that the high season is under way and travellers are returning, the airline is ready to resume full service.

Targeting India and ASEAN to connect visitors to Thailand

Thai AirAsia will resume 6 routes that had been temporarily suspended. The Indian market is the top priority, with the network expanding to up to 11 cities. In addition, the Phuket base will resume direct flights to Siem Reap, Cambodia, and the Bangkok-Kuala Lumpur route will also return. This will make it easier for international visitors flying into Thailand to connect onward within the country.

Thai AirAsia X Goes All In on Japan

Thai AirAsia X is focusing on its expertise in Japan routes, operating direct flights from Don Mueang to 4 destinations: Tokyo, Osaka, Sapporo and Nagoya, with up to 46 flights per week in total. Tokyo has the most flights, at up to 21 per week, followed by Osaka with 14 per week. There are also direct routes to Delhi, India, and Almaty, Kazakhstan, each with 4 flights per week.

Across both airlines, AirAsia's winter 2026 schedule covers 53 routes and 46 cities. These are divided into East Asia, such as China, Japan, Taiwan and Macau, with 17 cities; ASEAN, such as Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia and Laos, with 15 cities; South Asia, such as India, Sri Lanka and the Maldives, with 13 cities; and Central Asia, with 1 city in Kazakhstan.
