TISTR Displays Rubber Guard Barrier at Muang Thong Thani: 21 Tonnes of Latex per km
TISTR showed its prototype rubber roller guard barrier at Farm Expo Asia 2026; each kilometre installed uses up to 21 tonnes of Thai latex.
The Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR) has put its Rolling Guard Barrier research, a prototype roller-type guard barrier made from natural rubber, on display at Farm Expo Asia 2026 and the ARDA International Agricultural Forum 2026 at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani on 24 September 2026. Asst. Prof. Dr. Weerachai Artharn, Governor of TISTR, together with Dr. Priyada Visuthipaet, Deputy Governor for Administration, and the executive team, visited the exhibition in person. The innovation is designed to absorb impact on road bends.
The prototype rubber guard barrier
The work improves safety for road users while also making greater use of domestic rubber. The research was funded by the Rubber Authority of Thailand, with Dr. Siriporn Lapkiatsiri, Special Expert at TISTR, as project leader.
At the exhibition, the executives viewed the prototype and heard a presentation of the project's concept, which links materials research with road safety and the needs of rubber farmers.
