Thai Immigration Bureau Launches THIM App, Passes 600,000 Downloads
Thailand's Immigration Bureau has launched the THIM app for digital arrival cards and tourism benefits, already downloaded more than 600,000 times.
The Immigration Bureau officially launched the THIM (Thai Immigration Application) app on 28 September 2026, positioning it as the main digital channel for immigration services, covering everything from pre-arrival preparation and stays in Thailand to access to tourism benefits for foreign nationals. The app has been available for download via the App Store, Google Play and Huawei AppGallery since 1 August 2026, and currently has more than 600,000 cumulative downloads nationwide.
Submitting Thailand's Arrival Card via Mobile, Plus Tourism Benefits
Police Lieutenant General Panumas Boonyalak, Commissioner of the Immigration Bureau, said that the continuously rising number of foreign tourists has begun to strain capacity at airports and border checkpoints. The Immigration Bureau has therefore introduced digital technology to streamline procedures and provide greater convenience, without lowering security standards.
The THIM app currently offers two main services: the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC), which previously could only be submitted via the Immigration Bureau's website, and the Explore Thailand feature, which gathers benefits and coupons from private-sector partners, allowing foreign nationals to use a QR code or promotion code according to the conditions set by each partner.
The Immigration Bureau plans to expand the app's services further in future, such as queue booking, applications for residence certification letters, extensions of stay, 90-day reporting, and visa endorsement at immigration checkpoints, so that all immigration services are consolidated on a single platform.
Data Security and User Numbers
On data security, the THIM app uses NFC technology to read data from electronic passport chips, together with liveness detection and facial comparison, to verify identity in line with international standards. Data is encrypted both in transit and at rest, and biometric data is kept separate from other types of personal data.
The system is developed on the Amazon Web Services cloud via the AWS Asia Pacific (Bangkok) Region and operates in compliance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2019 (PDPA).

At the press event, the Immigration Bureau received cooperation from a number of private-sector organisations, including The Mall Group, Grab (Thailand), WiPay, True Corporation, Minor Food Group, Minor International and Bangkok Dusit Medical Services, which jointly presented benefits for THIM app users to broaden the value on offer.
