Thai Textile Association Hosts Silk Event at The Heritage Grand

The Thai Textile and Fashion Promotion Association, led by President Vilasinee Thephasadin Na Ayutthaya, organised a grand event entitled Khon Kaen Night: Muan Kak Hak Pha Thai to celebrate and honour the silk cultural heritage and the traditional way of life of the Isan people. The event was officially held on 26 September 2026 at The Heritage Grand Khon Kaen Hotel and Convention in Khon Kaen province. The main objective of the event was to promote the beauty of Thai handicrafts, as well as to prepare for and build upon its success towards the upcoming international exhibition, Siam International Fashion Week 2027.

International Dignitaries Gather to Honour Thai Textiles

This night of pride was graced by a large number of diplomats and prominent figures from various sectors, led by Michel Pares, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Thailand, who attended the event with his wife, Chiemi Miyahisa. In addition, Julide Kayihan, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Thailand, attended as an honorary guest. The appearance of these international figures reflects the growing global interest in Thailand's local arts and culture.

Alongside the ambassadors, the event was attended by many experts and celebrities, including Dr Monika Dmochowska, Supaporn Eldredge, Sasamon Mahasirikul, and Siranon Jirotjaruwat, all of whom gathered to express their admiration for the beauty and exquisite craftsmanship of local woven textiles. This event, therefore, served as a vital platform connecting the network of design art enthusiasts and supporters of Thai handicrafts, fostering stronger collaborations.

Elevating the Silk Industry to the Global Stage

The promotion of Isan silk and local textiles through this event in Khon Kaen is part of a long-term strategic plan to build a strong foundation for the Thai apparel industry. The Thai Textile and Fashion Promotion Association is committed to showcasing Thai wisdom, transmitted through silk threads, to an international audience. The choice of a provincial venue also reinforces Khon Kaen's image as a major silk hub, fully equipped to host international events.

The gathering of individuals passionate about the art of weaving not only preserves a beautiful tradition, but also creates business opportunities for textile-producing communities nationwide. Building upon this towards future international events will open new doors for Thai designers to present creations that perfectly blend Thai identity with international appeal.
