Thai AirAsia Increases Q4 Domestic Flights via 2 Airports and 22 Direct Routes
Thai AirAsia will increase its domestic flight frequency to up to 135 flights per day in Q4 using both Don Mueang and Suvarnabhumi airports, starting 1 October 2026.
Thai AirAsia has announced an increase in its domestic flight frequencies from 1 October 2026 onwards. The airline is utilising a strategy of serving two airports in Bangkok: Don Mueang International Airport (DMK) and Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK). This aims to accommodate domestic travel, which the company expects to rebound strongly from the fourth quarter into early next year during the high season for domestic tourism.
Reasons for Increasing Flights During this Period
Pairuch Pornpattananangkul, Chief Executive Officer of Thai AirAsia, stated that the airline previously had to reduce the number of flights due to continuously rising fuel prices and a decrease in passenger volume. However, for the fourth quarter, the company assesses that domestic tourism will become highly active again as it enters a period of high travel demand.
Furthermore, the Tourism Authority of Thailand is preparing full-scale tourism stimulus plans during the same period. This has prompted the airline's decision to increase routes and flight frequencies to provide passengers with convenience, value for money and service quality, while continuing to emphasise safety standards and punctuality as its core strengths.
Don Mueang as the Primary Base with 22 Direct Routes
Don Mueang International Airport remains the primary operational base for Thai AirAsia. In the fourth quarter, there will be direct flights from Don Mueang covering 22 routes, while Suvarnabhumi Airport will operate three routes to Phuket, Krabi and Chiang Mai. An additional nine cross-regional routes will also be added to make inter-regional travel more convenient.

Total Flights Surge by Over 50 Per Cent
In this fourth quarter, Thai AirAsia is increasing its domestic flight frequency to a maximum of 135 flights per day. This is an increase of more than 50 per cent compared to the third quarter, which had a maximum average of 88 flights per day, reflecting the airline's confidence in the direction of domestic tourism towards the end of the year.
