PhotoConcept, a creative community driven by live photography competitions, is preparing to hold its Live Photography Battle on Saturday 24 October 2026 at CALM, Sukhumvit Soi 31, Bangkok. Competing live in front of an audience

The venue is a semi-covered space, decorated with creative backdrops for the photographers to use. In PhotoConcept's competition, five photographers are selected and given the same brief, made up of a theme, a location and a subject to photograph.

On the day, the photographers have a limited amount of time to shoot and edit their best image in real time. The audience can watch the work up close and then vote together on the winning image, unlike a typical photo contest, where judging takes place after the event.

Once the competition ends, attendees move from being spectators to being part of the activity. They can talk to the photographers and use the backdrops and props to create their own content.

How brands can take part

Brands can take part in one of two ways: by providing the model or theme that the photographers are briefed to shoot, or by supplying products and equipment for the photographers to use during the competition. Where a brand is involved, the photographers will speak with its team beforehand to understand its vision and what it wants to communicate, before translating this into images.

The event is a hands-on Brand Activation, in which brands can try their products in a real photography setting, receive immediate feedback from photographers and meet the creative community directly.

Examples from past events

A previous example is the TukMe Challenge in Talat Noi, in which TukMe, an electric tuk-tuk tour operator, was the subject of a two-stage competition. The brand received original photos and videos from the photographers, and its Instagram followers rose by more than 5% in a single afternoon. Usage rights to images for partner brands follow PhotoConcept's terms for photographers.

On 5 September 2026, PhotoConcept held Asia Beyond Siam, a group exhibition at the Sow Heng Tai Mansion in the Talat Noi district, in partnership with Shaolin Thailand, a kung fu school in Bangkok. The photographers shot real martial arts practitioners, then edited the images further at PhotoHostel & PhotoCafe Bangkok. PhotoConcept had previously held events in the Talat Noi and Thonglor areas.

Phillippe Renaud, co-founder of PhotoConcept, said the competition is like a Creative Workout, with a single brief, limited time and a live audience. Laura Kazimierska, another co-founder, added that it is genuinely fun, which is rare in Brand Activation, and helps bring brands out from behind the screen to meet users face to face, building awareness, trust and strong relationships.

Brands interested in the 24 October event or future events can ask the PhotoConcept team for more details. Photographers who wish to apply to compete can follow updates on Instagram @photo_concept_bkk.

This event is of interest to marketing teams and event organisers looking for a Brand Activation format that produces real content and direct contact with the target audience, as well as photographers and photography enthusiasts who want to watch a live competition in a Golden Hour setting in central Bangkok.
