MBK Hosts INTO THE FARM Exhibition and Event for School Holidays
The Nine Center Rama 9 by MBK hosts the INTO THE FARM event, bringing champion Thai water buffaloes and traditional farming activities to youth during the school holidays.
The Nine Center Rama 9, a shopping centre affiliated with MBK, has transformed its activity space into a large-scale exhibition and simulated farm event under the name INTO THE FARM, held at the Nine Square in the heart of Bangkok. The main objective of this event is to welcome the school holidays for students while providing a novel out-of-classroom learning experience. The organisers present the traditional Thai farming lifestyle through various hands-on activities for attendees.
Key highlights of the INTO THE FARM event
The event space is clearly divided into zones to accommodate the interests of attendees of all ages. A highlight zone that has received significant attention is the display of champion Thai water buffaloes, which are a rare sight in the capital. Attendees will have the opportunity to get up close with Jao Dang Pan Lan, Jao Mangkorn Nguen, and Jao Thong Dee, as well as an adorable albino dwarf water buffalo that travelled from Maha Sarakham to add vibrancy to the event. The organisers have also prepared photo spots and a special fashion show for everyone to capture memorable moments.
For children and youth, the organisers have designed farming activities to allow city children to learn about the traditional lifestyle. Popular activities include a workshop on making banana stalk horses to ride in the simulated area, and having fun with a haystack slide that gives the feeling of being a little farmer. Furthermore, there are traditional Thai activities such as wading in the mud to catch fish, as well as feeding animals like miniature pigs and mallard ducks, and collecting fresh eggs from the simulated farm.
Entertainment areas and local food zones
The entertainment and food zones have been designed to let attendees experience a retro atmosphere through classic temple fair rides operating all day. Attendees can also stroll and shop for local premium products and nostalgic food from numerous vendor booths. Products on sale range from traditional snacks and vintage toys, and intensely flavoured mango with sweet fish sauce, to a special recipe of fresh Thai crispy rolls. Additionally, a special talk show by Mr. Rapeepat Eakpankul is held to share his experiences in raising Thai water buffaloes closely with interested listeners.
The feedback from this event has been highly positive, especially from families residing in the city. Many parents commented that this type of activity effectively draws children's attention away from using social media. Giving children the opportunity to see real animals and try playing in the mud is considered a new experience that helps foster development and imagination. Attendees expressed their gratitude to the organisers for allocating space for these creative activities.
