Miss Banjongjitt stated that the global economy is changing direction, with economic value increasingly shifting from tangible to intangible assets. Data from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) indicated that in 2025, global investment in intangible assets exceeded 10 trillion US dollars, reaching a record high and growing three times faster than investment in tangible assets. This figure reflects that knowledge, technology, brands, and intellectual property have become the main factors determining the competitiveness of each country.
Promoting IP Financing to Enable Practical Intellectual Property Loans
The Ministry of Commerce has tasked the Department of Intellectual Property with accelerating IP Financing policies, allowing entrepreneurs to use intellectual property as collateral to access funding or raise capital for business expansion. The Department of Intellectual Property is currently working closely with financial institutions, intellectual property valuers, and intellectual property owners. In the fourth quarter of this year, they will begin testing the valuation mechanism and the use of intellectual property as collateral for loans from banks and actual investors. Therefore, IP x Venture Rise Thailand 2026 is one of the mechanisms putting this policy into practice, rather than just a standard exhibition or business matching platform.
Bringing Together Innovations in 5 Sectors to Target Business Matching and Economic Value
The event gathers Thai research and innovations across five trending market sectors: health technology, agricultural technology, digital and AI technology, food technology, and clean technology. Additionally, there is a Partner Pavilion zone in collaboration with PTT Public Company Limited and The Siam Cement Public Company Limited, which showcases innovations. There is also an IP Service zone providing intellectual property consultations, and an IP Partner zone combining public and private sector agencies, financial institutions, and international organisations in one place, offering a space for funding advice and networking. The event further features a panel discussion on intellectual property valuation and management, with speakers from Thailand, WIPO, and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).
