IFAD Exhibition Elevates Dehua Ceramics and Songxi Agriculture Globally

Last September, the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) officially hosted the Agricultural Technology Innovation and Investment Exhibition at the UN Building Beijing. The primary objective of this exhibition was to build South-South cooperation while showcasing China's agricultural achievements to an international audience. The event was attended by over 120 participants, including diplomats from 17 embassies and representatives from various United Nations agencies based in China. In addition to product displays, practical agricultural solutions that can be adapted for use in other areas were also presented.

Ceramic Art and Agriculture from Dehua County

Dehua County from Fujian Province presented exquisite white ceramic artworks and distinctive local agricultural products. The artworks on display included flower baskets and sculptures inspired by the rich local music of Quanzhou City. Additionally, wild mushrooms, high-altitude camellia oil and Chinese yams were presented for attendees to experience. IFAD representatives from various regions expressed their admiration for the ceramic production techniques and the art of tea brewing, which reflect the profound culture of the East.

Currently, Dehua County is recognised as a major national production hub for white ceramics in China. The area is home to more than 4,000 pottery manufacturers. Showcasing these works at this event is therefore an excellent opportunity to promote local handicrafts and tea sets to a wider audience. The ultimate goal is to elevate the county's ceramic products so they can compete and grow in the international market.

Renowned Agricultural Products and Branding of Songxi

Meanwhile, Songxi County from Nanping City participated in the event as the only county-level representative showcasing agricultural products. Items that garnered interest from attendees ranged from traditional sugarcane snacks and local bamboo shoots to high-quality white and green teas. Global coordinators from IFAD commended Songxi for seamlessly integrating local resources with traditional agriculture and modern branding. This success serves as an excellent model to be applied in Global South countries to develop grassroots economies.

The Songxi County area is located near World Heritage sites and national parks, providing an abundant environment suitable for preserving traditional plant varieties. The sugarcane and bamboo cultivation systems here have been praised as a significant agricultural cultural heritage of China. This exhibition at the UN Building Beijing thus helped create opportunities for concrete cross-border trade discussions and technology exchange. The outcomes of the event will become a crucial driving force to help steadily guide local industries onto the global stage.

This press release is particularly interesting for event organisers looking for inspiration in hosting international exhibitions. Furthermore, it is beneficial for operators in the hotel industry who wish to study high-quality ceramic products and tea to apply to their customer service.
