IBank Hosts Global Islamic Finance Forum Parallel to IMF-World Bank Meetings in Bangkok
The Islamic Bank of Thailand is organising an international Islamic finance seminar alongside the 2026 IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings on 14 October 2026 in Bangkok.
The Islamic Bank of Thailand, or ibank, is preparing to host an international academic seminar on Islamic finance under the theme Islamic Finance: From Crisis Resilience to Transition Finance to open a space for exchanging views among financial leaders and experts from several countries. This event is organised as a parallel activity to the 2026 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group, which Thailand is hosting. It is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, 14 October 2026, at the Grand Ballroom, The Westin Grande Sukhumvit, Bangkok.
Amid global economic uncertainty, building financial resilience to cope with crises alongside preparing for the future has become an issue that many parties prioritise. Islamic finance, which adheres to principles of fairness, responsibility, and linking transactions to real economic activities, is thus raised as one approach that can build upon sustainable growth.
Global leaders to deliver keynote addresses, speakers from 3 countries to take the stage
This event is honoured to have Mr. Arun Boonchom, the Chularatchamontri, and H.E. Dr. Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser, President of the Islamic Development Bank Group, deliver special keynote addresses, conveying perspectives on the value of Islamic finance and its role in economic and social development.
In addition, there will be a panel discussion gathering distinguished speakers from 3 countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand, representing financial institutions and the academic sector. They will join to exchange views on how Islamic finance can advance from crisis resilience to supporting long-term economic transition. The content covers how Islamic financial institutions respond to changing economic needs, fundraising for sustainable investment, and strengthening cross-sector and international cooperation.
Thailand's opportunity on the global Islamic finance stage
For Thailand, hosting this parallel event is considered an opportunity to present perspectives on Islamic finance within the context of a multicultural society and religious diversity, while promoting knowledge exchange and networking with international partners. ibank views this forum as a starting point for cooperation that will build upon long-term economic and social value creation, especially in elevating the potential of the Islamic financial system in Thailand.
