Harbin Institute of Technology launches an aerospace science exhibition featuring a metaverse course and multimedia books to inspire over 3,000 youth.

Harbin Institute of Technology Hosts Space Exhibition, Features Metaverse Course

Harbin Institute of Technology continues to inspire youth in science by piloting an aerospace science outreach programme in classrooms through cutting-edge multimedia formats. The activities were held in early October at 27 schools, covering Guangxi Autonomous Region, Yunnan Province, and Qinghai Province, China. The project received overwhelming interest with over 3,000 students participating, driven by a team of postgraduate volunteers from the institute dedicated to delivering educational resources to remote areas.

Experience Space Through the Metaverse

A key highlight that drew excitement from the students was the highly immersive learning experience provided through a metaverse course. Participants could take on the role of astronauts to explore simulated scenes of lunar and Martian bases using spectacular 3D visual technology. In addition, students participated in challenging missions, such as interactive Q&A sessions with an AI Agent, as well as manually simulating route planning for planetary rovers. These experiences helped transform complex engineering topics into enjoyable activities, akin to playing an adventure game that requires step-by-step puzzle solving.

Multimedia and Bilingual Science Exhibitions

Another crucial element of the project was the distribution of bilingual multimedia book sets specifically created for science popularisation. This book series includes The Small Robotic Arm: A Helping Hand for Astronauts, Yutu & Zhurong: Space Adventure of Planetary Rovers, and Unlocking the Secrets of Lunar Soil: China’s Lunar Sampling Story. The contents integrate aerospace knowledge with direct experiences from real engineering projects.

This learning system was newly designed to encompass reading books, visiting space exhibitions, watching multimedia videos, and attending virtual reality courses. These elements elevate the transfer of technological innovations, making them easier for youth to understand. This project also serves as a significant model for developing innovation alongside the tangible distribution of knowledge to society. The success of the activities will become a long-term driving force for future space exploration and international scientific exchange.

News of this type of activity is highly interesting for organisers and event planners, as well as organisations aiming to create innovative exhibitions. Integrating cutting-edge technologies like virtual reality and AI Agents into offline exhibitions serves as an excellent case study in attracting attention. Organisers can apply this multimedia model to future events to create memorable experiences and effectively meet the needs of attendees.
