China Eastern Airlines summarises its passenger care mission and aviation innovation exhibition at WorldSkills Shanghai 2026, accommodating over 1,300 competitors.

China Eastern Airlines Reports Aviation Services at WorldSkills Shanghai 2026

China Eastern Airlines, or CEAir, reported its aviation service operations on 19 October 2026 at 13:00 in Shanghai following the conclusion of the 48th WorldSkills Competition, or WorldSkills Shanghai 2026, in which over 1,300 competitors from 68 countries and regions competed across 64 skill categories. As a National Strategic Partner and Designated Air Carrier, the airline arranged end-to-end travel facilitation to accommodate participants and international distinguished guests. Its primary operations covered ground passenger care at the 2 main airports in Shanghai, in-flight data connectivity, and an aviation innovation exhibition.

Ground Passenger Services and Competition Venue Support Operations

CEAir personnel provided comprehensive assistance to travellers at Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport. In-airport services included providing destination information, managing check-in procedures, offering wayfinding guidance inside the passenger terminals, and coordinating immigration procedures. Furthermore, throughout the competition period, nearly 1,400 of the airline's flights enabled complimentary Wi-Fi access so passengers could follow news and updates from the competition throughout their journey.

In terms of ceremonial and competition support, 69 CEAir flight attendants served to welcome distinguished guests at the opening ceremony, while 20 volunteers from the Lingyan group assisted with ceremonial duties at both the opening and closing ceremonies of the competition. At the competition venues, 15 flight attendants participated as models for the hairdressing competition category. Meanwhile, 5 aircraft maintenance specialists contributed their specialised expertise to support the aircraft maintenance competition category.

Aviation Innovation Exhibition and Special Promotional Flights

At the WorldSkills Shanghai 2026 Expo, CEAir showcased aviation innovations across a 300-square-metre booth to convey the specialised expertise behind modern aviation operations. Featured innovations on display included an IPT flight simulator, virtual reality or VR aircraft maintenance training equipment, an artificial intelligence or AI cargo security inspection system, and intelligent robots for preparing healthy meals. Visitors learned how these skills are applied in practice through operational demonstrations, informational presentations, and interactive activities open for full participation.

For international promotion, a special CEAir aircraft under the theme named Skills for Success has been in service since May to build awareness for WorldSkills Shanghai 2026. Since its launch, the aircraft has operated nearly 300 flights and accommodated more than 60,000 passengers in total. The flight network of this special aircraft covers 22 international routes, connecting travel across 16 countries and regions worldwide.
