Chiang Mai Sky Lantern Festival 24-25 Nov 2026: 1,590 THB Tickets
The Buak Khang subdistrict met to prepare the Chiangmai Wonderland Sky Lanterns Festival on 24-25 November 2026, with tickets priced at 1,590 THB.
The Buak Khang Subdistrict Municipality in San Kamphaeng District, Chiang Mai, together with CM Event CNX, community leaders, and housewives' groups, held a meeting on 11 September 2026 at the municipal office meeting room to plan the Chiangmai Wonderland Sky Lanterns Festival 2026. The main event is scheduled for 24 and 25 November 2026, with continuing activities for another two days. The goal is to allow visitors to experience Lanna and Thai Yong culture in a nighttime atmosphere filled with lantern light.
What was discussed at the meeting
This meeting brought together event organisers, community leaders, women's development groups, and relevant agencies to establish guidelines regarding the venue, food stalls, and the roles of community members. Another key issue was managing the event to ensure it is orderly and safe.
In addition to the sky lantern festival itself, activities to view the best of the Thai Yong way of life, retro Thai circle dancing, and a food fair are also included in the plan. Organisers intend to present the identity and lifestyle of the community for both Thai and international tourists to see.
What is included in the 1,590 THB ticket
The ticket price is all-inclusive. Purchasers receive a 300 THB food voucher, 2 sky lanterns, 1 krathong, and 1 phang pratheep (traditional clay lamp) without any additional payment. Furthermore, they can participate in workshops and watch various performances at the event.
The event features religious ceremonies for good fortune, such as bathing Buddha statues and writing wishes on gold leaves. Attendees can also observe the way of life of the Lanna (Thai Yong) people and ethnic groups, whilst shopping for goods and souvenirs from various booths.
For food, there are more than 50 stalls offering various styles of traditional northern 'Kad Mua' market dining, and the food voucher can be used to purchase items at the event. In the evening, there are light, sound, and fireworks shows.
