71 Years of the Charity Bazaar, Now an International Gift Fair

Supattra Jiraratiwat, adviser to Central Group Co., Ltd., said the YWCA Diplomatic Charity Bazaar has now been held for 71 consecutive years. It began as a Christmas Bazaar in 1953 before developing into an international charity festival connecting people from various countries through culture and sharing. Central Pattana Public Co., Ltd. has supported the event continuously, from its beginnings at Central Ladprao to this year, its 20th year being held at centralwOrld shopping centre.

Luís de Albuquerque Veloso, Ambassador of Portugal to Thailand, as chairman of the event, said this year has received warm cooperation from many countries, with quality products and international premium goods from 45 countries around the world joining to exhibit and sell, reflecting the cultural diversity and friendship among nations.

Highlight Products from 45 Countries, Hard to Find in Supermarkets

Lanthip Thawathasin, President of the YWCA Bangkok association and co-chair of the event, said that the diplomatic spouses from each country have selected renowned cultural and festival products for sale, some of which cannot be found in ordinary supermarkets. Last year the bazaar generated more than 6.5 million baht, which the association used to support 50 projects for children, women and disadvantaged people, covering education, career development, the environment and disaster relief.

  • Italy: pasta, olive oil, wine, bags and accessories
