BANGKOK RAW Photo Exhibition by Alain Callebaut at Old Town Gallery, 4-31 Oct

Belgian fine art photographer Alain Callebaut opens his solo photography exhibition, BANGKOK RAW, at Old Town Gallery in the Ban Bat area of Bangkok from 4 to 31 October 2026, from 10.00 to 18.00. The exhibition presents Bangkok from angles that rarely appear in travel guides or on social media, capturing alleys, markets, bridges, skytrain stations and old neighbourhoods that people often overlook.

A New Perspective of Bangkok Beyond Familiar Images

Throughout several extended stays in Bangkok, Callebaut spent hours exploring different areas on foot by himself. Rather than focusing on photographing temples, skylines or major tourist attractions in familiar ways, he chose to look for the silence between people, the light after rain, unexpected reflections and small, fleeting gestures.

The resulting works portray a Bangkok breathing with real everyday life, encompassing its chaos, fragility and unintended hidden beauty. The artist says that he does not photograph what Bangkok reveals, but rather what the city hides, pressing the shutter during the brief moments when everything falls silent amidst the chaos.

From Documentary Photography to Museum-Grade Art

BANGKOK RAW elevates street documentary photography into museum-quality photographic art, with Yokin Valanlapat as Art Director for Thailand and Nancy De Witte as Art Director for Belgium jointly curating the exhibition.

This is Callebaut's first large-scale exhibition dedicated specifically to contemporary Bangkok, following his solo exhibitions Uncensored and Abandoned held over the past two years. Over the past several decades, Bangkok has remained one of his most important sources of inspiration.
